Beach Study Looks at Erosion
Y5 headed off to Hayling Island yesterday to carefully measure the effects of wind and waves on the coastline there.
Working in groups, they used measuring sticks to see how the onshore drift wears away the coastline and the measures that the Environment Agency takes to maintain the land’s stability.
“The visit to our local beach brought the class’s studies in the classroom to life,” said Mr Tom Allen one of the accompanying teachers. “The children worked very diligently together and carefully tracked their results.”
