Nursery - 3-4 years old

Children are welcomed into our family atmosphere from the age of three. They settle in well throughout our first year of Nursery, as they attend morning, afternoon or all-day sessions. They then build on their confidence and early learning still further in their second year, where they are well prepared to join our main school Reception class. Our exciting, sociable and secure environment allows your child to discover their own interests and learning style. We get to know them and their individual personality very well too. With plenty of Outdoor Learning in our 25-acre site and the chance to spend time in the Main School, our Nursery children enjoy their earliest years and emerge from Nursery eager to begin their formal education.

Pre-Prep - 5-7 years old

Our Reception children forge positive relationships and develop a strong sense of enquiry coupled with a feeling of belonging. The children in Pre-Prep (YR-Y2) spend most of the day with their class teachers and their assistants who nurture, observe and plan for each child’s individual development. In Y1 lessons become less topic based and are more specific, class teachers encourage more independence whilst still maintaining our nurturing atmosphere. Y2 is the last year of Pre-Prep (Key Stage 1) where independence is encouraged further and the basics are firmly embedded in each child as they get ready to move to the Prep department. Outdoor Learning features strongly in Pre-Prep as our specialist teacher encourages them to use the environment to further their studies.

Prep - 7-11 years old

Year 3 is an exciting year for our pupils as they move to the latter stage of their time with us. In Y4, lessons become more specialised and children move between teachers for a range of subjects. Once our pupils reach Y5 they begin to take on responsibilities within the school community. Academically, the year is spent in preparation for senior school examinations, particularly Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning tests which are assessed in entrance examinations for the many superb independent schools in our area which our children go on to attend. We have excellent relationships with these schools and are able to support our parents as they choose their child’s important next step. By February, our 11-year-olds know which senior school they will attend in September, so we work hard with each one to prepare them for that transition. This means that they leave us as confident, robust, well-rounded individuals ready and eager to take on their new challenges.

The cost of sending your child to a private school is something that most parents worry about. Here at Kingscourt, we understand that parents want flexibility in the way they pay their fees. There are a range of options available to parents, such as spreading the costs termly or if you would like even greater flexibility, monthly through the School Fee Plan.
