Kingscourt welcomes internationally renowned e-safety expert Karl Hopwood
On Thursday March 2nd we look forward to hosting e-safety expert, Karl Hopwood to Kingscourt. Ex primary teacher Karl works with schools across the UK and Europe to develop safer online behaviours and to promote digital literacy.
Karl Hopwood is a member of UKCCIS (UK Council for Child Internet Safety) as well as sitting on the UKCCIS evidence group. He is on the board of the UK Safer Internet Centre and the Education Advisory Board of CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre) who he used to work for. Karl sits on Twitter’s Trust and Safety Council and represents the Insafe Network. Other than working for CEOP, Karl has previously been at the European Commission and the United Nations as well as the British Educational and Communications Technology Agency.
Headteacher, Jacky Easton said, “We believe that parents and children will benefit from Karl’s vast experience in this field. It is open to parents of all age classes, as we think it’s never too early for parents to inform themselves of new activities becoming available to young children and especially those about to go to senior school. We do hope that parents can find the time to come along as they will also have the opportunity to ask questions on the night.”
During the afternoon of 2nd March, Karl will talk to Y4/5 and 6 about keeping themselves safe online and guarding their digital footprint. We warmly invite you to join us in the evening from 6.30-8.30pm for the parents’ talk on how to help your child maintain a healthy online profile and stay safe online.
