Walking through a Winter Wonderland
Our Y6 classes donned their thickest layers and sturdiest walking boots this week and headed off to the woods at nearby Queen Elizabeth Country Park. Their task was to look at and follow maps around the park taking in forests, hillsides and valleys and to examine the topography of the landscape just a few minutes away from school.
Pupil Olivia said, “It was a gorgeous day – cold but invigorating – and we all enjoyed following the route on the map.”
Y6 teacher Tom Allen said, “Getting the children out into the fresh winter air and the countryside whilst teaching them how the local area was formed made for a very productive and healthy day away from the classroom.”
